The Number One building located in Shaoshan, with Mao Zedong's conference chair illuminated by a light. It is famous because Chairman Mao lived there for 11 days in 1966 and is the main building of Water Dripping Cave. Since then, it has been established as an exhibition hall where the office, bedroom, dining room, and conference room, as well as Mao’s daily supplies, are completely preserved. This is where Mao secluded himself and thought of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a program to remove "counter-revolutionary" elements of Chinese society.

The Comrade Mao Zedong Bronze Statue Square was built at Chairman Mao's 100th birth anniversary in 1993. It is located in the center of the core scenic area of Shaoshan. It is 10.1 m tall because October 1st is National Day of the People's Republic of China. Tourists would sing out loud, walk around the statue three times, or bow to honor Mao.
