The restaurant near Mao's former residence in Shaoshan. The Concordia tour group ate Mao's favorite dish at this restaurant, fatty pork
When Mao Zedong returned to his hometown, Shaoshan, the woman pictured above met him as a teenager. He asked her opinion on the Great Leap Forward, an economic and social campaign by the Communist Party of China. She later created a restaurant to honor him and the cuisine he enjoyed, especially fatty pork. After the group ate a meal there, she said, "May Mao bring you success and wealth," as well as, "Never stop learning".
